Summary: The Weighted Capitation Formula is used to determine target shares of available resources between PCTs based on the relative needs of each area and also, where appropriate, to inform indicative GP practice budgets under Practice Based Commissioning. The Department of Health, through its Policy Research Programme (PRP), is now inviting proposals for three distinct research projects to support the development of components of the formula for PCT allocations from 2011-12.
